(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The religious jurisprudent, Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpaigani in a message has condemned the recent attack on Shia Muslims in Egypt, forewarning against attempts to create disturbed milieu in the country through religious discord.
Ayatollah Safi Golpaigani beckoned to the stolid reaction of Al Azhar University in this regard and paid tribute the university for condemning the massacre but added the foresaid position does not suffice.
“Don’t you gather that these measures are plots hatched by the enemies,” reads the message as it addressed Al Azhar scholars, stating that the enemies are in a serene situation while try to fan the flame of distrust among Muslims.
The religious cleric urged Al Azhar religious scholars to stand in revolt against extremist groups for the sake of God.
It is worthwhile noting that the incident happened on June 23 when several hundred Takfiris attacked and surrounded the house in the village of Abu Mussalam near Cairo in Giza Province. Their bodies were then dragged into the streets by the extremist assailants.
Takfiri extremists claim that only their interpretation of Islam is correct and believe that all other Muslims are infidels.
The Shia community is being targeted by Salafists, with support of countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Shias, who form just one percent of Egypt’s population, are often under attack by extremist groups in the North African country.
